Bourbon Chicken

Have you ever tried those bourbon chicken samples in the mall that got you hooked on the dish? Well, this bourbon chicken is a million times better! Yesssssuuuuh!!!


What you'll need:

  • 1-pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • ½ cup soy sauce

  • ½ cup teriyaki sauce

  • ½ cup hoisin sauce

  • 1 tablespoon Chinese Five Spice seasoning

  • 1 shot bourbon

  • 1 cup chicken broth

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

Cook rice according to package directions.

In a medium bowl, prepare marinade by mixing brown sugar, soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, hoisin sauce, Chinese Five Spice seasoning, bourbon, and chicken broth; whisk well. In a Ziploc bag, pour marinade over chicken - reserving about 2 cups of marinade to make sauce, squeeze all air out of bag, zip bag, allow chicken to marinade for 24 hours. If you don’t have 24 hours to marinade chicken, allow chicken to marinade at least one hour. Once chicken is done marinating, heat your grill or grill skillet pan. Cook chicken until internal temperature reaches 165°F, turning at least once. Once chicken is done cooking, remove from pan, allow to rest for about 10 minutes before dicing chicken.

In a medium skillet, add 1 tablespoon sesame oil and remaining teriyaki marinade. Once heated through, begin adding diced chicken to sauce mixture. Toss chicken in teriyaki sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.


And that’s it! Plate ‘em up with your rice, drizzle some sauce on top your dish, and enjoy!

**Note: You can use more or less seasoning and ingredients to your liking**
